Branch Activation in EquiBillBook enables a branch to process transactions and become operational. This guide will help you understand how to activate branches and manage their operational status.
Understanding Branch Activation
Branch activation determines whether a branch can:
- Process sales transactions
- Process purchase transactions
- Manage inventory
- Access financial operations
- Generate reports
- Perform other operational activities
Branch Status
Branches can have two main statuses:
Active Branch
- Status: Operational and functional
- Can Process: All types of transactions
- Users Can Access: Branch is accessible to assigned users
- Reports Available: Branch reports can be generated
- Default State: New branches are typically created as Active
Inactive Branch
- Status: Disabled and non-operational
- Cannot Process: New transactions cannot be created
- Users Cannot Access: Branch is not accessible
- Historical Data: Existing data remains accessible
- Use Case: Temporarily disable branch operations
Accessing Branch Activation
To activate or manage branch status:
- Navigate to Settings → Location Settings → Branch Management
- You'll see a list of all branches with their status
- Click on a branch to view details
- Use activation/deactivation options
Activating a Branch
To activate a branch:
Method 1: From Branch List
- Go to Branch Management
- Find the branch you want to activate
- Click on "Activate" button or toggle
- Confirm activation if prompted
- Branch status will change to Active
Method 2: From Branch Details
- Go to branch details page
- Click on "Activate" button
- Confirm activation
- Branch will be activated
Method 3: During Branch Creation
- While creating a new branch
- Set status to "Active"
- Save the branch
- Branch will be created as Active
Prerequisites for Activation
Before activating a branch, ensure:
Required Information
- Complete Details: All required branch information is filled
- Valid Address: Complete and valid address is provided
- Contact Information: Valid contact details are available
Recommended Settings
- Operational Settings: Sales/Purchase settings configured
- User Assignment: At least one user assigned to branch

Deactivating a Branch
To deactivate a branch:
Deactivation Process
- Go to branch details or branch list
- Click on "Deactivate" button
- Confirm deactivation
- Branch status will change to Inactive
When to Deactivate
- Temporary Closure: Branch temporarily closed
- Maintenance: Branch under maintenance Reorganization: Branch being reorganized
- Testing: Testing or setup phase
- Permanent Closure: Branch permanently closed (consider deletion)
Effects of Deactivation
- No New Transactions: Cannot create new transactions
- User Access: Users cannot access branch
- Historical Data: Existing data remains accessible
- Reports: Historical reports still available
Bulk Activation/Deactivation
You can activate or deactivate multiple branches at once:
Bulk Operations
- Go to Branch Management
- Select multiple branches using checkboxes
- Click "Bulk Activate" or "Bulk Deactivate"
- Confirm the action
- All selected branches will be updated
Verifying Branch Status
To verify branch activation status:

- Color Coding: Green for Active, Red/Gray for Inactive
