Points Expiry Settings
Points Expiry Settings in Reward Points Settings allow you to configure when and how reward points expire. You can set expiry periods, expiry rules, expiry notifications, and handle expired points. This guide covers all points expiry configuration options.
Accessing Points Expiry Settings
To configure points expiry settings:
- Navigate to Settings → Reward Points Settings
- Click on "Points Expiry Settings" or "Expiry Configuration"
- Configure expiry options as needed
Enable Points Expiry
Activation
Enable or disable points expiration:
- Enable Expiry: Turn on points expiration feature
- No Expiry: Points never expire
- Conditional Expiry: Expiry based on conditions
Expiry Policy
- Always Expire: All points expire after set period
- Selective Expiry: Only certain points expire
- No Expiry: Points never expire (lifetime validity)

Expiry Time Period
Set how long points remain valid:
- Days: Points expire after X days (e.g., 90 days, 180 days)
- Months: Points expire after X months (e.g., 6 months, 12 months)
- Years: Points expire after X years (e.g., 1 year, 2 years)

- 30 Days: Short validity period
- 90 Days: 3-month validity

Expiry Calculation Methods
From Earning Date
Points expire from the date they were earned:
- Earning Date + Period: Expiry = earning date + expiry period
- Example: Points earned on Jan 1 expire on Apr 1 (90 days)
- Individual Expiry: Each point batch has its own expiry date
From Last Activity
Points expire from last customer activity:
- Last Purchase Date: Expiry from last purchase date
- Last Redemption Date: Expiry from last redemption date
- Last Activity Date: Expiry from any last activity
- Activity Resets Expiry: Activity extends expiry period
Fixed Expiry Date
All points expire on a fixed date:
- Year End: All points expire at end of year
- Financial Year End: Expiry at financial year end
- Custom Date: All points expire on specific date
Expiry Rules
First In First Out (FIFO)
Oldest points expire first:
- FIFO Method: Points earned first expire first
- Batch Expiry: Points expire in batches by earning date
- Automatic Deduction: System automatically deducts oldest points
Last In First Out (LIFO)
Newest points expire first:
- LIFO Method: Most recently earned points expire first
- Reverse Order: Points expire in reverse chronological order
Proportional Expiry
Points expire proportionally:
- Proportional Deduction: Expire points proportionally from all batches
- Weighted Expiry: Expire based on weighted average

Exempt Points
Points that don't expire:
- Bonus Points: Bonus points may not expire
- Promotional Points: Special promotional points exempt
- VIP Points: VIP customer points may not expire
